A business was found by 3 brothers Louis, Marcel, and Fernand Renault in 1898 in France. From the very beginning the company started to saw great success. In the first year of existing they received 12 orders for their first Renault Voiturette. Louis, who was ahead of the mechanics in the company, decided to participate in city-to-city races. And his 2 brothers being drivers brought fame to the company after a number of victories.This made the beginning of a very profitable business which later on introduced many innovations to the world of car producers. The first saloon of the company was opened in 1902 with several models in a model line-up. After designing the first 4-cylinder engine, the company focused on broadening the production and bringing the cars to the European and American markets.
After experiencing various challenges during the first and second world wars, Renault company was eventually nationalized by the government. It wasn't until 1946 that Renault began to recover and achieve even greater success than anticipated. The company shifted its focus to truck production, leading to the establishment of new transport companies to meet the increasing demand for high vehicles in other countries.
Starting from the 70s and till the end of 80s a company was facing turbulence by bringing more successful models like Renault 5, expanding and founding plants in Eastern Europe, Africa and Australia alongside with getting into a financial crisis from time to time. And only on the 90s the balance started to turn back with a release of the new line-up: Clio, Escape, Twingo and Laguna models. And even in 1995, one of the line models Renault Megan achieved 4 stars in Euro NCAP safety tests rating.
In recent years, the company has successfully re-entered Formula 1 and has been privatized once again. Since 2000, Renault has introduced a series of more or less successful models, known for their reliability, low repair costs, and highly sought-after mid-range vehicles on the market.
